About This Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room at Atrium Health University City provides high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice and clinical expertise. This role involves utilizing the nursing process, monitoring patient conditions, administering treatments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, engaging patients and families from admission to post-discharge.
  • Monitor patient conditions, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with the care team to influence care outcomes.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution, fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation.
  • Pursue professional development, complete required education, and maintain certifications.
  • Adhere to the ANA Code of Ethics and practice ethical decision-making, respecting interdisciplinary roles, and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • Float to other units, departments, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • Active, unrestricted registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Time management, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in operating computer functions (e.g., E-mail, electronic records, digital platforms etc.)

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • No formal RN experience required.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Robotic, General, Urology and Gynecology procedures.
