About This Role

This role involves overseeing and providing patient care as a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit setting for a Level One Trauma Center. Responsibilities include patient assessment, developing and evaluating care plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting as needed to achieve desired outcomes
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families while managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members on healthcare choices and assess documented learning needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to develop comprehensive care plans
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly, following the Texas Nursing Practice Act
  • Utilize problem-solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognizing contributions and committing to professional growth

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited RN Program
  • Specialized field of study in nursing
  • RN license
  • BLS certification (or obtain within 30 days)
  • 1 year of ICU RN experience
  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures
  • Proficiency in medical terms, health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and side effects
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Positive social skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, email)

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Accredited RN Program with a specialized field of study in nursing
  • 1 year of ICU RN experience required
