RN House Supervisor

About This Role

Act as a resource and provide direction and support to staff nurses in the absence of a Unit Director, upholding nursing standards and ensuring patient safety during weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource person for staff nurses, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment and technical skills
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the application of the nursing process and serve as a resource for staff
• Identify safety hazards during rounds and report necessary repairs
• Make rounds on all nursing units at least once per shift and provide support for unusual situations
• Assist staff in achieving maximum productivity and efficiency during assigned shifts
• Participate in Division of Nursing, Medical Staff, and Arnot Health committees
• Maintain a complete understanding of emergency procedures for fire, safety, and disaster scenarios
• Monitor compliance with Division of Nursing and Arnot Health policies and provide feedback
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Joint Commission and NYS Department of Health standards
• Actively participate in the Division of Nursing Quality Improvement Program

Requirements

• BSN or completion within a negotiated timeframe
• 5+ years clinical experience
• Active RN license in New York
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

Qualifications

• BSN required or completion within a negotiated timeframe
• Minimum of 5 years clinical experience

Nice to Have

• Certification in nursing specialty or nursing administration
