About This Role

This position focuses on expanding academic services for American Indian students, piloting supplemental instruction, and developing effective academic intervention strategies using institutional data to increase retention and graduation rates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess programs to increase student retention and facilitate graduation based on institutional and student need/demand
  • Identify student populations using Civitas predictive analytics system and develop data-informed proactive interventions to support retention and graduation
  • Coordinate academic intervention efforts of the Center for Tribal Studies and NASS team
  • Assist with identifying external support services available to students and maintain proper documentation
  • Serve on relevant university and/or departmental committees

Requirements

  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention principles, particularly those effective with American Indian students
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices related to American Indian student retention
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving
  • Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, in person and in writing, with colleagues, students, parents, community partners, and others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultural, Tribal educational services, as well as the history, policies and best practices of Indian education

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in psychology, education, math/statistics or related field
  • Minimum of one year experience working in academic advising or coaching setting in higher education and coordination of student support.
