About This Role

This role coordinates and administers the University's benefits programs, working with vendors and internal teams to ensure competitive practices and compliance. The position also manages all employee leave types and new hire orientation for the university.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary university contact for benefits-related topics for potential, current, and former employees, including OTRS retirement
  • Conduct the benefits portion of new employee orientation and assist new hires with enrollment procedures
  • Process new hire and termination paperwork and disability claims forms
  • Partner with payroll to verify the accuracy of benefits deductions
  • Process benefits paperwork for retirees, including all aspects of the OTRS process
  • Oversee and manage annual open enrollment benefit changes with vendors and partner universities
  • Meet with beneficiaries to process death claims
  • Oversee all wellness programs on behalf of Human Resources
  • File all ACA reporting in a timely manner or oversee vendor for accurate reporting
  • Process employee medical leave, family medical leave requests, and manage leave share accounts
  • Oversee and coordinate new hire orientation (NHO) for all employees

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to employment and benefits, including HIPAA
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of benefits administration principles
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Ability to meet deadlines under stressful conditions and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to work fluctuating and flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Benefits Administration, or sufficient experience to understand basic principles usually associated with 1-2 years in a similar position or internship.
