About This Role

Assist pharmacists in providing quality pharmaceutical care by performing technical duties such as retrieving and filling prescription orders, managing patient profiles, and handling cash transactions for patients in a retail pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve prescription orders, count, pour, measure, and weigh tablets and medications
  • Mix medications and select the proper prescription container
  • Create prescription labels and maintain patient profiles
  • Complete cash register transactions and answer phones
  • Take inventory of over-the-counter medications
  • Acquire necessary information to properly fill prescriptions, ensuring all legally required data is obtained
  • Utilize computer software to process prescriptions, including knowledge of third-party payers and related issues
  • Contact physicians and benefits providers as necessary to process prescriptions
  • Complete third-party insurance forms and other paperwork
  • Handle cash transactions using POS equipment and credit card processing machines

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Cert Pharmacy Tech certification
  • Registered Pharmacy Tech certification
  • Licensed by the State of Georgia

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED Diploma from an accredited program
  • Exposure/experience in all phases of retail pharmacy operations. Preferred: Experience in a retail pharmacy setting including exposure to retail pharmacy operations, data entry into pharmacy software system, purchasing/inventory control, controlled substance documentation, data intake from customers, and good customer service skills.
