Retail Licensed Optician

About This Role

The Retail Licensed Optician assists customers with frame selection, fitting, and dispensing, utilizing technical information to interpret prescriptions and help customers choose appropriate optical products and services. They provide accurate product and insurance information while ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist each customer in frame and lens selection meeting social distance requirements
• Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols and cleaning hygiene practices
• Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and other services
• Provide customers covered by Third Party insurance with accurate information regarding benefits
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations
• Analyze and interpret patients’ prescriptions, communicating with the Lab and Optometrist as necessary
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and other accessories through accurate measurements, verification, and adjustments
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines
• Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians where applicable
• Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations and the overall facility on a daily basis

Requirements

• Applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products and services
• Knowledge of optical prescriptions, fitting, and dispensing
• Basic computer literacy
• Strong communication skills and desire to work with the public
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
