Resident Camp Counselor - Traditional Camp Ages 9-11

About This Role

Provide a quality camp experience for children aged 9-11 at Camp Kern, ensuring their safety, growth, and leading various activities. This role involves living on-site and working effectively with staff to implement lesson plans and maintain regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide a quality camp experience for children aged 9-11
• Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children participating in activities
• Assist in implementing weekly lesson plans that fit children’s needs, interests, and developmental levels
• Work effectively as a team with all Camp Kern Staff
• Lead large group activities such as games, campfires, high ropes course, climbing wall, hayrides, canoeing, and night hikes
• Enforce all aquatic rules, policies, and guidelines to ensure safety
• Implement all ACA and Camp Kern rules and regulations
• Monitor and maintain accurate records including attendance, absenteeism, and incidents for each child
• Ensure safety by checking for hazardous conditions and maintaining proper safety equipment
• Communicate effectively with parents through verbal and written reports

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be over the age of 18
• One or more years of related childcare experience
• Ability to actively engage children in activities that enhance self-esteem

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. 2-year college degree preferred.
• One or more years of related childcare experience required
