Remote Mainframe Developer

About This Role

The Mainframe Developer will support a healthcare insurance provider by modernizing a large internal data application and migrating from a distributed mainframe environment to Google Cloud Platform. This role involves consolidating dispersed data, eliminating redundancies, and ensuring data accuracy and performance across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Support multiple initiatives within a large internal data application during the transition to GCP cloud
• Work with legacy mainframe components and contribute to the migration from UNIX on the mainframe to AIX DB2
• Analyze and consolidate data dispersed across 20+ servers, extracting data, removing redundancies, generating flat files, and reloading optimized database tables
• Partner with the team managing data exchange across enterprise data lakes and upgraded applications
• Ensure accuracy, performance, and reliability throughout the data ecosystem

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer or related role
• Expertise with Unix, DB2, & Cobol JCL
• Expertise using sync sort for identifying duplicates within data
• Ability to write shell scripts/command language into batch processes

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer or related role

Nice to Have

• Cloud expertise, preferably GCP
• Previous healthcare experience
• Experience with ETL tools or Data Stage
