Mainframe Developer with HealthCare

About This Role

This role involves designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications, with a focus on COBOL and IBM z/OS environments. The developer will collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver reliable and high-performance systems for the healthcare sector.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Write and modify programs using COBOL, JCL, and DB2
• Perform batch and online processing (CICS)
• Debug and resolve production issues, including performance tuning
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Support system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
• Collaborate with QA, business analysts, and operations teams
• Prepare technical documentation and system specifications

Requirements

• Strong experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS
• Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS
• Familiarity with mainframe debugging and performance tuning tools
• Understanding of SDLC and agile/waterfall methodologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of VSAM, IMS
• Experience with mainframe modernization or migration projects
• Exposure to distributed systems or APIs
• Knowledge of tools like Endevor, Changeman, File-Aid, Abend-Aid
