Relief Veterinarian

About This Role

Serve as an independent veterinary contractor with Vetco, a division of Petco, by providing high-quality veterinary care in a flexible work environment. Focus on preventive care, vaccinations, and potential diagnostic workups and outpatient procedures in either clinic or hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Select shifts with no minimum or maximum number required
• Determine your own rate for each relief shift chosen
• Continue practice activities outside of Vetco shifts without agency fees
• Focus on delivering the best care and patient experience possible
• Perform wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations and medications, heartworm testing, and microchip insertion at Vetco Vaccination Clinics
• Partner with area medical director to review comfort level of cases for hospital shifts
• Provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures at Vetco Total Care Hospitals

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
• Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
• Compliance with all local state and federal mandates

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license

Nice to Have

• DEA in good standing (preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts)
