Relief Veterinarian

About This Role

As an independent veterinary contractor with Vetco, a division of Petco, you will provide accessible, high-quality veterinary care to pets in your community. This role offers total career flexibility, allowing you to select your shifts and set your own rates, focusing on either preventive care or a broader range of hospital services.

Responsibilities

• Perform wellness examinations and administer preventive vaccinations and medications
• Conduct heartworm testing and microchip insertions
• Manage basic operations and transactions in clinics with the support of trained staff
• Provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures in hospitals
• Partner with area medical director to review comfort level of cases for hospital shifts
• Utilize advanced equipment like ultrasound imaging, digital/dental X-rays, and AI interpretation in hospital settings

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions
• Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
• Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates
