About This Role

This Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) involves recovering patients from various anesthesia types and managing their postoperative care within a fast-paced, 28-bed unit. The role provides service to a wide range of surgical specialties 24/7.

Responsibilities

  • Recover patients from anesthesia
  • Manage postoperative care, including recovery from general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and IV sedation
  • Provide service to surgical services such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiac procedures (TAVR), bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT, and OMF surgery
  • Manage recovery of GI advanced procedure patients
  • Manage recovery of outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients

Requirements

  • Current Connecticut RN License
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire
  • ACLS required for external candidates

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school

Nice to Have

  • ICU experience preferred
  • BSN Preferred
  • ED, Step-down and floor level experience
