About This Role

Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure well-coordinated care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs
  • Delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds
  • Develop, implement and revise individualized plans of care

Requirements

  • Labor and delivery experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Associate degree
  • Current Connecticut RN license
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required, BSN preferred, Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Less than one year of experience for graduate RNs; labor and delivery experience required; two years of Medical-Surgical/Critical Care experience preferred.
