Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure well-coordinated care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols
- Implement and monitor patient care plans
- Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
- Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs
- Delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel consistent with their level of education and expertise
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds
- Develop, implement and revise individualized plans of care
Requirements
- Labor and delivery experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Associate degree
- Current Connecticut RN license
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association
Qualifications
- Associate degree required, BSN preferred, Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Less than one year of experience for graduate RNs; labor and delivery experience required; two years of Medical-Surgical/Critical Care experience preferred.
