About This Role

This role involves assisting with the management of patient care activities and staff in an adult psychiatric unit. Responsibilities include supervising admissions, assessing patient needs, initiating care plans, and evaluating patient progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction and support to unit staff
• Supervise admissions and conduct assessment of patient's needs
• Initiate nursing care plans and evaluate and document patient progress
• Facilitate planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit
• Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures
• Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization
• Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of patient care services in a unit
• Provide hands-on nursing support and provide coaching, mentoring and education for department nursing team
• Act as a catalyst for improving the quality and safety of patients and work at the point of care delivery to transfer knowledge and patient outcome management to the nursing care team
• Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and be a steward of organizational resources

Requirements

• Licensed Registered Nurse from the Connecticut Department of Public Health
• Certified BLS Provider (AHA or Red Cross) within 2 months of hire
• BSN Required
