About This Role

Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Labor & Delivery unit, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and coordinating with the healthcare team to ensure well-coordinated care.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess patients and to identify physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care to the patient
  • Delegate aspects of care to other nursing personnel
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary patient rounds
  • Develop, implement and revise individualized plans of care
  • Participate in activities for professional growth and development

Requirements

  • Labor and delivery experience
  • Associate degree in Nursing
  • Current Connecticut RN license
  • BLS certification

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required, BSN preferred, Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Less than one year of experience in nursing to be automatically enrolled in Nurse Residency Program. Two years of Medical-Surgical/Critical Care experience preferred.
