This Registered Nurse (RN) role involves providing age-specific patient care in an ambulatory multispecialty setting. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient interviews, explain policies/procedures, and review patient charts
- Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, mobility, sensory, and skin health status
- Determine level of pain and pain management needs
- Assess patient's psychosocial health status, coping mechanisms, and knowledge level
- Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to ensure patient satisfaction
- Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals
- Identify care activities and priorities to achieve expected outcomes
- Coordinate cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication
- Implement and continuously re-evaluate the plan of care, ensuring patient safety
- Administer prescribed treatments and use equipment necessary for patient care
- Provide emotional support to patients and significant others
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient's treatment, activity, condition, and responses to interventions
- Act rapidly and effectively during emergency situations
- Participate in discharge planning and provide appropriate referrals and instructions
- Collaborate with other care team members and physicians in treatment regimen
- Accurately interpret and implement treatment regimen as prescribed by the Physician
- Perform grade I-IV Decubitus Care and preventive skin care measures
- Administer medications correctly and safely, educating patients on drug and food interactions
- Participate in patient and family education, communicating assessment data to care team members
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date
- Specialized certifications as needed
