Registered Nurse (RN)- 5C ICU

About This Role

Implement and evaluate patient care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process. Collaborate with physicians and health team members to coordinate and implement procedures and treatments in an ICU setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interview, explain policies and procedures, review patient's chart, and answer questions
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status
• Assess patient's psychosocial health status, coping mechanisms, knowledge level, and cultural/ethnic requirements
• Identify patient outcomes, develop criteria for measurement, and establish individualized patient goals
• Coordinate cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes
• Implement the plan of care, ensure safety precautions, and correctly administer prescribed treatments and equipment
• Reassess patients as needed and appropriately revise the plan of care
• Keep accurate documentation of patient's treatment, activity, condition, and responses to interventions
• Collaborate with other care team members and physicians in planning and carrying out treatment regimens
• Administer medications correctly and safely, and educate patients/significant others on drug and food interactions

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
• Enrollment in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years of job entry date
• Obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing, required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum 2 Years Critical Care Experience, Preferred.
