Registered Nurse (Nuclear Cardiology)

About This Role

Implement age-specific plans of care for designated patient groups, collaborating with healthcare teams to coordinate and apply treatments and procedures. Utilize leadership and clinical judgment to manage patient care within the unit.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, and review patient charts
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, neurological, mobility, sensory, prostheses use, and skin conditions
• Determine coping mechanisms, knowledge levels, and ability to comprehend
• Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure patient satisfaction
• Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals
• Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication
• Maintain constant vigilance over patient care to ensure safety precautions are followed
• Administer prescribed treatments and use equipment necessary for patient care correctly
• Provide emotional support to patients and significant others
• Keep accurate documentation of patient's treatment, activity, condition, and responses to interventions
• Act rapidly and effectively during emergency situations
• Communicate effectively with the patient's family or caretakers
• Participate in planning for discharge and coordinate appropriate referrals
• Accurately interpret and implement treatment regimen as prescribed by the Physician
• Assist the Physician during treatments and/or diagnostic procedures

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date.
