About This Role

This role involves providing direct patient care as a professional caregiver, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes within a designated timeframe. The Registered Nurse performs duties according to established standards of care and nursing division values.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status of patients
• Analyze assessment data to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses
• Identify appropriate expected outcomes individualized to the patient
• Perform documentation duties on unit and in patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise
• Evaluate effectiveness of self, care given by all health care team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes
• Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events
• Demonstrate sound knowledge base and actions in the care and decision making for designated patient populations
• Follow all Medical Center, Division of Nursing and Unit specific Policy and Procedures
• Respect and recognize each patient as a unique individual and provide holistic nursing care
• Demonstrate effective communication methods and skills, using lines of authority appropriately

Requirements

• Current NYS nursing licensure, limited permit or eligible
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent writing ability
