Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Rheumatology

About This Role

Implement and evaluate an age-specific plan of care for designated patients in an ambulatory rheumatology setting, using the nursing process, while collaborating with physicians and other care team members.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, and review patient charts
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition, adjusting the plan of care as appropriate
• Assess level of pain and pain management, communicating and documenting patient's physiological health status and plan of care
• Assess patient's psychosocial health status, coping mechanisms, knowledge level, and cultural/ethnic requirements
• Identify patient outcomes, develop criteria for measurement, and establish individualized patient goals
• Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes
• Implement the plan of care, ensuring safety precautions are followed and exercising professional nursing skills
• Administer medications correctly and safely, identifying medication actions, dosages, side effects, and implications
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge instructions

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date.
• At least 1-2 years of experience
