Registered Nurse - Ambulatory OBGYN

About This Role

This Registered Nurse will perform age-specific plans of care for designated OBGYN patients by utilizing the nursing process, collaborating with healthcare team members, and applying leadership skills in patient care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, review charts, and answer questions courteously
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, including mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, skin condition, and pain level
• Communicate and document patient's physiologic health status and plan of care
• Assess patient’s psychosocial health status, including perception of care, coping mechanisms, knowledge level, and cultural/ethnic requirements
• Identify patient outcomes, develop measurement criteria, and address actual/potential patient problems
• Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals
• Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes
• Maintain constant vigilance over patient care to ensure safety precautions are followed
• Administer prescribed treatments and use equipment necessary for patient care correctly
• Accurately record patient's treatment, activity, condition, and responses to medical/nursing interventions
• Perform grade I-IV Decubitus Care and preventive skin care measures
• Administer medications correctly and safely, identifying action, dosage, side effects, and implications for the patient
• Educate patients and significant others related to drug and food interactions
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and early discharge planning

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
