Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Cardiology

About This Role

Implement and evaluate patient care plans for designated patient groups, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes. Use clinical judgment to coordinate care and direct team activities within an ambulatory cardiology setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, explain policies and procedures, and review patient charts
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition; adjust plan of care accordingly
• Assess level of pain and pain management, communicating and documenting the patient’s physiologic status
• Assess patient’s psychosocial health status, coping mechanisms, and knowledge level
• Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to ensure patient satisfaction
• Identify actual/potential patient problems and the patient’s need for teaching
• Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals
• Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication
• Implement and continually reassess the plan of care, revising as needed
• Administer prescribed treatments and use equipment necessary for patient care safely and efficiently
• Provide emotional support to patients and significant others
• Administer medications correctly and safely, educating patients on drug and food interactions
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions and discharge planning

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing

• Exercise stress testing experience
• Cardiology experience
