About This Role

Join Marathon Petroleum as an Intern/Co-op Refining Mechanical Engineer to gain familiarity with industry codes and best practices, build critical thinking skills, and understand how engineering disciplines work together. You will work with a team of professionals to run a specific portion of the refining process.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with industry codes and best practices
  • Build critical thinking skills related to refining processes
  • Gain an understanding of how all engineering disciplines work together as a cohesive team
  • Gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with a team of professionals
  • Work on more than one area of the refinery, leading to a broad understanding of plant operations
  • Expand written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment
  • Develop and use project management skills to create project scopes, estimates, and schedules (for Project Engineer roles)
  • Oversee design efforts and assist in the construction process (for Project Engineer roles)
  • Support the refinery's Maintenance Department through design and development of equipment-related improvements (for Reliability Engineer roles)
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and optimize maintenance programs in rotating and fixed equipment (for Reliability Engineer roles)

Requirements

  • Majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering
  • Strong academic performance
  • Authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Concurrent enrollment in a degree seeking program
  • A valid driver's license

Qualifications

  • High School (Required), majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering
