About This Role

This Radiology Extern position supports students in their radiography program, providing practical experience under supervision, with the goal of transitioning to a technologist role upon graduation. The role involves direct patient care, room setup, patient education, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with direct patient care
  • Transport patients pre- and post-exam
  • Perform room setup and turnover, including cleaning tables and equipment
  • Provide pre- and post-exam education to patients and family members
  • Collaborate with radiology staff, nursing, respiratory therapy, and other interdisciplinary teams
  • Scan documents into Synapse
  • Initiate exams in Epic and ensure required exam and safety checklists are completed
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and escalation when equipment or workflows are not functioning as expected

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology (I.E. JCERT)
  • Successfully completed one semester in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology (I.E. JCERT)
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent and enrollment in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally Accredited Educational Program in Radiology and successfully completed one semester
