Radiation Therapist

About This Role

This role involves the safe and effective administration of prescribed radiation doses to patients, utilizing radiation therapy equipment, while ensuring accuracy and adherence to established practices and standards.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment
• Position and image patients for treatment with accuracy and consistency
• Treat emergent patients while on call
• Document, schedule, and capture charges using EHR
• Perform daily operational and safety checks on linear accelerator and simulation equipment
• Follow principles of radiation safety protection for patient, self, and others
• Simulate patients under physician guidance and fabricate immobilization and custom treatment devices
• Ensure all pertinent data for the proposed treatment plan is available and double-checked against physician’s prescription
• Train and supervise students or subordinate radiotherapy technologists
• Educate, prepare, and reassure patients and their families by answering questions and reinforcing physicians' advice

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology
• Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT) or registry eligible
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology
• Minimum of one-year radiation oncology experience preferred
