About This Role

This position performs work in food handling, serving, production, cleaning, safety, and sanitation within the Nutrition Services Department of the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan. The role involves preparing and cooking meals for patients, adhering to nutritional and safety standards, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.

Responsibilities

  • Portion hot and cold food items onto trays and monitor temperatures
  • Load regular and modified meals into food carts for distribution and deliver to teams
  • Serve meals to patients in the dining room based on meal tickets
  • Clean and sanitize production areas, dining room, diet office, bathroom, kitchen equipment, and utensils
  • Follow policies regarding knife handling, key monitoring, and employee safety
  • Determine and record temperatures for dish machines and food carts within appropriate ranges
  • Verify chemical sanitizer solution concentration and record on sanitation logs
  • Prepare, portion, season, and cook all menu food items using various methods and standardized recipes
  • Determine product amounts based on census, tallies, menus, and diet requirements
  • Maintain active computer access for Cornerstone training and email communications
  • Attend annual training fair and complete mandatory hospital and departmental training

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant experience in cooking and food preparation
  • Experience in a banquet setting, catering, or production kitchen
  • Ability to work 10-hour variable shifts including early, late, holidays, and weekends
  • Ability to pass a full background check, drug screen, and TB test
  • Ability to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience including cooking and preparation of food, and/or in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Acceptable forms of experience include: work in banquet setting, catering, or production kitchen.
