Guide community engagement efforts for the Maternal Health Program, building relationships with statewide and community-based organizations to improve maternal health outcomes. Lead the implementation of strategies focused on perinatal wellbeing, emphasizing community-based solutions and integrating community voices.
Responsibilities
- Guide community engagement efforts for the Maternal Health Program
- Provide grantee support to improve maternal health outcomes
- Build and maintain relationships with statewide and community-based organizations
- Effectively engage individuals with lived and/or community-based experience to inform public health efforts
- Lead implementation of strategies for Maternal and Child Health (MCH) priorities focused on perinatal wellbeing
- Incorporate community voices into the identification, development and implementation of strategies
- Monitor contracts for community-based and hospital-based grantees
- Develop budgets and scopes of work for grants
- Provide technical assistance and support to grantees for grant deliverable implementation
- Ensure payment for services by reviewing and submitting invoices and completing department contract monitoring requirements
Requirements
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in maternal health, public health, health policy, community engagement, health systems, and/or with programs involved in promoting and implementing public health or public policy initiatives, or other related fields
- Residence in the State of Colorado at the time of application
Qualifications
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in maternal health, public health, health policy, community engagement, health systems, and/or with programs involved in promoting and implementing public health or public policy initiatives, or other related fields. Or a combination of related education and experience equal to six (6) years.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, outreach, or partnership-building, particularly with communities experiencing worse health outcomes
- Lived experience and/or long-standing relationships with communities most impacted by maternal and child health inequities
- Proven ability to engage and communicate clearly with a wide variety of audiences, tailoring outreach and messaging
- Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills
- Familiarity with reproductive health frameworks, social determinants of health, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches
- Comfort working in both community settings and systems-level environments (e.g., healthcare, state government)
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique complexities and systemic barriers that impact maternal and child health outcomes
- Experience supporting partners through technical assistance, coordination, and administrative processes
