About This Role

Provide geotechnical engineering and project site support for power generation projects in the Energy, Transportation, and Community Development business units. This role involves investigations, designs, and construction support services, with travel for fieldwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geotechnical engineering assignments including investigations for various facilities and designs for embankments, cut slopes, pipelines, and waste landfills.
  • Prepare geotechnical engineering designs involving rock/soil slope stability, landslide remediation, geotechnical field instrumentation, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Design sheet pile/retaining walls (gravity walls, soldier pile, and lagging walls, MSE walls, T-walls) and shallow/deep foundations (spread footings, driven piles, micropiles, drilled shafts).
  • Provide geotechnical investigation and construction support services, including test boring monitoring, site reconnaissance, foundation/retaining structure construction monitoring and inspection.
  • Interpret specifications and construction drawings, evaluate site conditions based on excavations, monitor and report on construction activities, and perform field testing of soils.
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, schedules, calculations, specifications, and reports.
  • Serve as technical advisor for the organization in the application of advanced concepts and methods, keeping informed of new developments and recommending changes.
  • Oversee a project team of engineers and technicians, planning, scheduling, and coordinating documents or activities for multiple major projects.
  • Analyze complex project management plans, understand project delivery uncertainties, and use risk management principles.
  • Routinely interact with organizational leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and other related individuals and organizations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or other technical degree
  • 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering for power generation projects
