Police Officer (Secret Service Police)

About This Role

This role involves providing protection for critical government facilities and diplomatic missions, traveling in support of high-level protective assignments, and enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as a Police Officer for the U.S. Secret Service.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
• Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
• Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Current valid U.S. driver's license
• At least 21 years old at the time of application
• Under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply for federal law enforcement with special retirement provisions)
• Ability to carry and use a firearm
• Maintain firearm proficiency
• Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
• Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
• Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without a hearing aid
• Pass drug test
• Register with the Selective Service System (if applicable)
