About This Role

This role involves providing protection for critical U.S. government facilities and personnel, including the White House Complex and foreign diplomatic missions. It requires officers to travel in support of high-level protective missions and enforce mandated security responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex
  • Provide protection for foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
  • Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency
  • Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in specified Hz ranges
  • Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without a hearing aid
  • Willingness to submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing
  • Completion of 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service System or be exempt
