About This Role

This role involves protecting key governmental facilities and personnel, including The White House Complex and the Vice President's Residence. It also includes traveling in support of Presidential and Vice Presidential missions and enforcing protective responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
  • Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current valid U.S. driver's license
  • At least 21 years old at the time of application
  • Under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply)
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain firearm proficiency
  • Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
  • Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without a hearing aid
  • Submit to drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing
  • Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC
  • Complete 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Registered with Selective Service System or exempt (if male born after Dec 31, 1959)
