The Plumber is responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing plumbing systems and equipment within the Southern Arizona Healthcare System. This role involves preventive maintenance and ensuring water quality for patient care areas, specifically focusing on Legionella control and scald prevention.
Responsibilities
- Install, modify and repair new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment
- Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation of systems and equipment
- Install, modify, and repair systems by locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope, and determining and installing valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems
- Route and place systems leading to the equipment, and seating, hooking up, and testing equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance of domestic hot and cold-water systems in patient care areas for the control and prevention of the Legionella organism and scald prevention
- Assess risk, monitor water quality and implement appropriate engineering controls to limit the growth of the Legionella organism
- Sample, flush, monitor, log, and upkeep with documentation and record-keeping for Monthly Water Quality Reports to the facility Water Safety Committee
- Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and hard to reach places, requiring physical exertion
Requirements
- Evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the work of this position
- Ability to install, modify and repair new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment
- Ability to work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on domestic hot and cold-water systems
- Ability to assess risk, monitor water quality and implement engineering controls for Legionella
- Ability to sample, flush, monitor, log, and maintain documentation for water quality reports
- Physical ability to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and hard to reach places, involving standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds
Qualifications
- At least four (4) years of practical journeyman experience working with commercial plumbing systems
Certifications
Current Arizona State Backflow Prevention testing certification
