About This Role

Join Hartford Hospital's nationally recognized Heart & Vascular Institute as an Advanced Practice Provider in Cardiac Surgery, delivering expert care to patients from admission to discharge and managing various case types and cardiac surgical emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support patient care from admission to discharge on surgical service and step-down teams
  • Handle a wide variety of case types in all stages of illness
  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments
  • Interpret diagnostic results
  • Establish complex plans of care
  • Manage cardiac surgical emergencies
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery patients
  • Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal
  • Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures like heart transplants, ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and TAVR
  • Develop individualized care plans and closely monitor patient progress
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Support seamless transitions of care between ICU, step-down, and floor settings
  • Provide patient and family education regarding the surgical process and recovery journey

Requirements

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (APRN)
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Connecticut
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Commitment to patient and team focused care, excellence in clinical outcomes

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in Cardiac Surgery, critical care, or surgical settings; new graduates are welcome to apply
