The Pharmacy Manager at CVS Health cultivates a culture of excellence by acting as a role model and setting high standards for their pharmacy team. This role involves leading and developing a team to provide exceptional patient care, promoting best practices, and identifying performance opportunities. The manager will champion novel programs and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coaching and following up on performance measures.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by adhering to and directing the team in pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and identify Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory effectively by following and coaching the team on best practices, focusing on cold chain products.
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, including training on CVS workflow and ensuring timely completion of training/licensure.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed.
- Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues and ensure timely completion of required training for licensure.
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through observation, feedback, and reviews.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
- Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance.
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, building psychological safety through feedback and action.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through company-required trainings and CMEs, actively seeking knowledge expansion.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (testing and prescribing services) where permissible.
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Nice to Have
- Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
- 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business need
