Lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care, promote best practices, and ensure compliance with all regulations. Drive positive patient experiences and manage pharmacy operations effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care
- Promote best practices and lead through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities
- Support novel program awareness and onboard newly hired pharmacy team members
- Exhibit best practices when working the bench, including quarterbacking the team and providing meaningful patient counseling
- Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and follow-up
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow pharmacy workflow procedures
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, and coaching the pharmacy team to do the same
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
- Support the effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and coaching the pharmacy team to follow all inventory best practices
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for the store and district, ensuring timely completion of required training and/or licensure
- Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations at all times
- Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues willing to work in the pharmacy
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through direct observation and feedback
- Remain flexible for both scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Regularly review business reporting for operational insights and developing action plans to close gaps
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion so the pharmacy team feels valued
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge
- Support access to care and help improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner, understand patients' reactions
- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues, utilize active listening
- Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve problems suchs as determining dispensing quantities
- Problem Resolution: Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
- Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods, lift, scan, and bag items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hand(s) and arm(s), control precision, stoop, close visual acuity, occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
- Team Management and Leadership: Lead by example, delegate tasks, empower team members, foster a collaborative work environment, motivate team members, apply problem-solving skills, adapt to changing circumstances, coach, reinforce, and discipline pharmacy team members
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist, 3-5 years preferred in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Nice to Have
- Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
- 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business need
