As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change. You will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to a safe and inclusive team dynamic.
Responsibilities
- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance through effective coaching
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by ensuring adherence to workflow procedures and safety guardrails
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and proactively resolving issues
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and identify/engage Pharmacy Technicians for immunization training
- Support effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and coaching team on best practices, especially for cold chain products
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, ensuring timely completion of training and licensure
- Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed
- Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues for the pharmacy
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through observation, feedback, and reviews
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
- Regularly review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, building psychological safety through feedback
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist; 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred
Nice to Have
- Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
- 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business need
