Pharmacy Manager

About This Role

As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change. You will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to a safe and inclusive team dynamic.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
• Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance through effective coaching
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by ensuring adherence to workflow procedures and safety guardrails
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and proactively resolving issues
• Proactively offer and deliver immunizations and identify/engage Pharmacy Technicians for immunization training
• Support effective management of pharmacy inventory by following and coaching team on best practices, especially for cold chain products
• Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, ensuring timely completion of training and licensure
• Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed
• Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues for the pharmacy
• Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance through observation, feedback, and reviews
• Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
• Regularly review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
• Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, building psychological safety through feedback
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients
• Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist delivered clinical care where permissible, empowering the team to provide holistic care
• Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles

Requirements

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist; 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred

Nice to Have

• Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
• 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business need
