Pharmacy Intern

About This Role

This role supports pharmacy teams by applying didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice, preparing for a Pharmacist role. The 3rd year Pharmacy Interns assist in daily pharmacy operations ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment and providing excellent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap for aptitude development in pharmacy operations.
• Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health.
• Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, creating personalized moments, and offering immunizations.
• Offer counseling, field medical questions, and solicit patient medical history under direct pharmacist supervision.
• Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify prescriptions where allowed by state regulation.
• Maintain high self-awareness and provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
• Complete basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and cycle counts.
• Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback.
• Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, and voluntarily travel to other store locations if needed.

Requirements

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy

Nice to Have

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified
• Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
