Pharmacist Manager

About This Role

Lead and develop a pharmacy team focused on providing exceptional patient care and transforming healthcare for customers. Manage pharmacy operations, ensure compliance, and foster a culture of excellence and safety by acting as a role model and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
• Oversee the pharmacy team during shifts, focusing on performance, coaching, and follow-up
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by adhering to and directing the team on workflow procedures and safety guardrails
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and proactively resolving medication issues
• Offer and deliver immunizations to patients; identify and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize
• Manage pharmacy inventory effectively, focusing on best practices and protection of cold chain products
• Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding for the store and district, ensuring timely completion of training and licensure
• Ensure pharmacy operations are fully compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
• Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues for the pharmacy
• Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists, managing performance and delivering annual reviews
• Maintain scheduling flexibility and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, including pharmacy schedule creation
• Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
• Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, and build psychological safety through feedback
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, actively seek knowledge expansion, and support pharmacist-delivered clinical care
• Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, especially concerning patient safety, privacy, and controlled substances

Requirements

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist

Nice to Have

• Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
• 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business need
