About This Role

This Personal Banker role provides effective sales and service support within a banking office, developing new business by educating clients and exemplifying Valley's quality service standards. The position involves analyzing client needs, recommending solutions, and selling bank products while performing routine banking transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley's mission statement
  • Educate and demonstrate bank products and services to customers, and cross-sell various offerings
  • Meet with customers to analyze financial needs and maximize sales opportunities
  • Open new accounts (checking, savings, certificate of deposit, IRAs) and discuss/sell loan products
  • Promote and demonstrate online banking and mobile banking abilities to customers
  • Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards
  • Participate in the sales referral process and assist management in coaching and mentoring branch staff
  • Perform all required customer transactions efficiently using appropriate technology
  • Maintain and balance a cash box, and utilize teller equipment (scanning, recycling, dispensing machines)
  • Act as Vault Teller, assisting with ordering/shipping currency and controlling/distributing cash to Tellers
  • Assist in community events and participate in CRA initiatives
  • Report significant matters, issues, and unusual customer activity to Manager
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank's Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking and knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
  • Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong Customer Service Skills
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient computer skills

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of business services experience in branch banking and knowledge of branch operations or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or related field is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with concentration in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field
  • FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions) experience
