About This Role

Conduct a comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluation for a K-12 student in Los Angeles, CA. Provide expert recommendations regarding device usage and potential transitions to lower-tech solutions, collaborating with the school's team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive AAC evaluation for a moderate to severe student using an AAC device
  • Assess device usage challenges and frequent device breakdowns
  • Provide expert recommendations regarding potential transition to a lower-tech AAC device
  • Clearly present findings and rationale to the school's team
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure understanding and support for recommended communication strategies

Requirements

  • Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Experience in pediatric and school-based settings
  • Expertise in AAC assessment, particularly with Keyguard customization
  • Familiarity with both high-tech and low-tech AAC devices

Qualifications

  • Experience in pediatric and school-based settings with AAC assessment

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of teletherapy and healthcare environments
