Conduct a comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluation for a K-12 student in Los Angeles, CA. Provide expert recommendations regarding device usage and potential transitions to lower-tech solutions, collaborating with the school's team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive AAC evaluation for a moderate to severe student using an AAC device
- Assess device usage challenges and frequent device breakdowns
- Provide expert recommendations regarding potential transition to a lower-tech AAC device
- Clearly present findings and rationale to the school's team
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure understanding and support for recommended communication strategies
Requirements
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Experience in pediatric and school-based settings
- Expertise in AAC assessment, particularly with Keyguard customization
- Familiarity with both high-tech and low-tech AAC devices
Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric and school-based settings with AAC assessment
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of teletherapy and healthcare environments
