This role is responsible for registering patients, handling initial call resolutions, and accurately collecting demographic, financial, and medical information to ensure a positive patient experience and smooth operations within a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Engage patients during registration to create a welcoming and positive experience
- Accurately enter required patient information into the electronic health system, ensuring no duplication or incorrect registrations
- Obtain all appropriate signatures and complete required forms, including Medicare, HIPAA, and financial assistance documentation
- Verify and accurately document insurance information, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and policy limitations
- Obtain and document referral, authorization, and pre-certification information as needed
- Answer inbound and place outbound calls efficiently, ensuring timely and courteous service
- Contact patients for appointment reminders, instructions, and follow-up care, and manage appointment cancellations/reschedules
- Organize, expedite, and follow-up on patient care-related paperwork
- Schedule various types of appointments for providers and communicate necessary instructions to patients
- Perform administrative support duties such as opening, sorting, and distributing mail
Requirements
- At least 1 year of related customer facing experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred
- At least 1 year of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated understanding of basic medical terminology
- Call center, patient scheduling and/or physician front-office experience
