Nursing Assistant and Clinical Secretary

About This Role

Serve as a Nursing Assistant and Clinical Secretary, performing clerical duties on a nursing unit and providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties on a nursing unit
• Answer telephones and relay messages promptly and appropriately
• Act as a receptionist, receiving and directing visitors and ambulatory patients
• Provide direct patient care services as assigned by the Clinical Director and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse
• Ensure patient call bells are answered promptly and appropriately
• Transcribe orders accurately
• Maintain charts in appropriate order, flagged and labeled for verbal orders
• File labs and other reports accurately
• Assure all referrals and consults are initiated appropriately
• Report changes in patient’s condition to RN/LPN

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Medical Terminology course completion and passing score, or 2 years equivalent experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with successful completion of Medical Terminology course and a passing score on the examination, or 2 years previous specific work experience with medical terminology for the Medical Terminology course certification; OR High School Diploma with the completion of an approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training or successful completion of fundamentals semester of Nursing school
• One year Clerical experience or Nursing Assistant experience preferred
