This role is the primary point of contact for patients, responsible for managing patient services from registration and scheduling to processing payments and assisting with referrals in a multispecialty clinic setting, ensuring excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Process patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards, and identifying patients
- Schedule appointments, transcribe orders, and update medical records accurately and efficiently
- Explain financial options to patients and calculate patient liabilities, collecting and processing payments
- Answer internal and external calls, route calls, and enter necessary information for patient scheduling
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly to maintain patient flow, informing supervisors of issues
- Process admission paperwork, including basic insurance verification, and correct registration errors
- Reconcile cash drawer at the close of the day
- Perform charge entry for external services (e.g., nursing homes)
- Schedule referrals or follow-up appointments and assist with online scheduling and MyChart
- Obtain proper authorizations and pre-certifications for scheduled procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior Healthcare Administrative Experience
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior Healthcare Administrative Experience required; Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred
