Patient Services Representative

About This Role

This role is the primary point of contact for patients, responsible for managing patient services from registration and scheduling to processing payments and assisting with referrals in a multispecialty clinic setting, ensuring excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Process patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards, and identifying patients
• Schedule appointments, transcribe orders, and update medical records accurately and efficiently
• Explain financial options to patients and calculate patient liabilities, collecting and processing payments
• Answer internal and external calls, route calls, and enter necessary information for patient scheduling
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly to maintain patient flow, informing supervisors of issues
• Process admission paperwork, including basic insurance verification, and correct registration errors
• Reconcile cash drawer at the close of the day
• Perform charge entry for external services (e.g., nursing homes)
• Schedule referrals or follow-up appointments and assist with online scheduling and MyChart
• Obtain proper authorizations and pre-certifications for scheduled procedures

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior Healthcare Administrative Experience

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior Healthcare Administrative Experience required; Prior experience in patient registration/healthcare preferred
