Patient Services Representative I

About This Role

The Patient Services Representative performs scheduling and registration, verifies eligibility, and obtains authorizations for ambulatory appointments, procedures, or surgery scheduling. This role ensures timely and accurate patient registration, secures demographic and financial information, and communicates closely with patients throughout the care process.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and reschedules all routine and non-routine medical services for assigned patient population
• Coordinates scheduling and referrals to other healthcare providers and services
• Confirms daily data entry of medical appointments, special instructions, patient information/jurisdiction, and pre/postoperative or procedure instructions
• Performs scheduling and registration, verifies eligibility, and obtains authorizations for ambulatory appointments
• Completes patient registration in a timely and accurate manner
• Performs insurance verification and identifies pre-certification requirements
• Secures all demographic and financial information, including Medicare/Medicaid, Third Party Liability (TPL), and Workers Compensation
• Completes cash deposits for co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay
• Obtains and verifies required precertification/authorizations for scheduled outpatient procedures or surgeries
• Performs administrative duties including answering phones, faxing, filing, and using Internet and email

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent Diploma
• 1 YOE Preferred
