Patient Service Navigator

About This Role

Escort and transport patients, materials, and equipment within the facility, ensuring safe movement, proper handling of medical supplies, and timely reporting of patient status changes and equipment issues. The role involves clerical duties and utilizing a transport tracking system.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and operate transport equipment, including elevators, to move or escort patients and visitors.
• Receive and provide formal hand-off reports at destinations when necessary.
• Report any changes in patient status or condition during transport.
• Remove and report defective equipment to a supervisor.
• Assist clinical staff with lifting and moving patients for transfer and transport.
• Ensure I.V. and oxygen tanks are handled, set up, and operated according to established procedures and orders.
• Clean transportation equipment following Infection Control protocols.
• Evaluate patient readiness for transport and ensure appropriate equipment is available.
• Recognize cardio-pulmonary distress symptoms, summon the code team, and provide interim basic life support.
• Use a patient transport tracking system to record patient information, assignment acceptance, and closure.
• Pick-up and deliver materials and equipment to various offices and departments.
• Perform related routine clerical duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification within three (3) months of hire
• Demonstrated knowledge of patient transfer/transport techniques and related body mechanics
• Knowledge of basic related Safety and Infection Control policies and practices
• Ability to utilize electronic technology for data input
• Ability to communicate effectively

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
