Patient Care Technician - ED

About This Role

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse, implementing components of the care plan. This role involves assisting with basic human, mental health, and social needs, comfort, safety, and emergency measures.

Responsibilities

• Implement components of the plan of care through initiation and completion of procedures related to basic human, mental health, and social needs
• Provide comfort, safety, and emergency measures
• Assist with activities of daily living, personal care, nutrition, fluid, and elimination needs
• Measure vital signs
• Perform ECGs, venipuncture, and IV placement
• Conduct capillary blood glucose testing
• Perform Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation
• Basic Life Support certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, plus successful completion of a Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program, or Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation

Nice to Have

• 1 year experience in a related patient care role
