Patient Care Tech PCT

About This Role

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) performs direct patient care procedures, assisting the unit manager, professional staff, and physicians, focusing on meeting patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Meet the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient
• Assist with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures
• Set up and prime IV tubing
• Perform 12-lead ECG
• Perform simple tracheostomy suctioning and care
• Change dressings
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Obtain wound and throat cultures
• Assist physician and professional staff in equipment supply and setup
• Assist with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures
• Perform required documentation and communicate effectively to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, employee, and department information
• Utilize time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes

Requirements

• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program

Qualifications

• High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
• Less than one year of previous job-related experience (Preferred: 1-2 years)
