The Patient Care Tech in the Emergency Department at Highland Park Hospital provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of nursing staff. This role requires visual and auditory acuity to assess patients and communicate effectively, while also maintaining patient safety and supporting the healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties requiring normal mental, visual, and auditory attention and manual dexterity for sustained periods.
- Utilize visual acuity to assess patients and read/record patient charts.
- Utilize auditory acuity to converse with patients and the healthcare team, including those wearing masks.
- Work under pressure to meet patient care needs.
- Utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for non-emergency patient lifts and transfers.
- Assist with lifting up to 50 pounds in urgent events.
- Wear an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE when applicable.
- Engage in sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the US
- Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, and ability to receive and follow through on directions
- Basic Computer skills
Nice to Have
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing
