Assist patients with daily living tasks and vital signs under the direction of licensed personnel in a healthcare setting. This role supports patient care, research, teaching, and community service.
Responsibilities
- Perform vital signs, weights, heights, intakes, and outputs accurately and within established timeframes
- Complete all required documentation in the medical record
- Interact effectively with patients and their families
- Assist patients with basic hygiene tasks including bathing, dressing, using the toilet, and feeding
- Help patients turn and reposition themselves in bed and move between bed and wheelchair
- Listen to patient health concerns and report them to nurses
Requirements
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong patient/customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Proficient computer skills for electronic medical records
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
- 1-2 years experience working in patient care/elder care preferred
